The mango is the apple (or peach) of the tropics, and one of the most commonly eaten fruits in tropical countries around the world.

Origin: The mango is native to southern Asia, especially Burma and eastern India. It spread early on to Malaya, eastern Asia and eastern Africa

In India, it is the King of fruits and has even found mention in the Kamasutra.

In Chennai, it is truly abundant. Go on and enjoy this summer with the sweetness of a Mango.

Tell us your favourite way to partake the fruit other than the fruit itself on this thread

Hi All,
Harish thanks for giving me an opportunity to air my culninary skills. Well here goes - we all simply love "Mambara Morekozhambu". Can be done in 5 minutes straight and tastes so exotic. Just beat the curds, add salt, turmeric powder (a pinch), and peel ripe managoes, the more rotten it is, the taste is good - just cut off the rotten portions and mix it with the beaten curds. Grind coconut, green chillies, dry chillies and add the paste. Simmer in low flame and season it and viola ur delicacy is ready to be consumed. Can be taken with rice, savai, dosas, a delicious treat. My hubby treats me as royalty when I make this dish - ;-D and its the easiest...ha ha ha. So don't tell him that.

Hi All in general and LK(G) in particular ;-D,
Mentioned it addressed directly to Harish, cause he succeeded in making me write a recipe. Its been ages since I did just that - can't even remember when the last time was. LK - lets start the new thread so the likes of Gokuls can benefit immensely and also inspire me to try out some exotic dishes and give u all the recipes. Have been starving my family for many months now. Take care all
