Can-Stop is a Chennai NGO working with Sundaram Medical Foundation (Dr. Rangarajan Memorial Hospital) for Children and Women battling cancer. The organisation is hosting a Fund raising event on April 13th in Chennai.
The Funds are being utilised for the foundation's Drug Bank which provides medical assistance for children coming from poor socio-economic backgrounds.
The Event is being organised at Taj Connemara. A Dinner and an American auction. The evening is scheduled with a Classical program and a couple of shows of a performing group. The cost of the Dinner is Rs. 1600.00 for couple (includes dinner, cocktails, etc)

There are also other ways to contribute further to the cause on the same evening.

It may be only a few who would like to shell out Rs. 1600/- at one go for a good cause like this but it would be easy if small amounts are demanded. one suggestion I have is as Fufa Narasimha Rao (JNRao) suggested we can have a lucky dip each one contributing Rs. 100/- and having a lucky dip and who ever is lucky will attend the function on 13th april,2005. Just a humble suggestion as can from a illiterate, gaoty platformwasi..

lets see if i can bring out some fliers for the FuFa meet to get more people aware and also help ourselves with their local network to raise much needed money for this cause.
Govindji, i think wednesday is when Aarti + Dr. C is meeting up for the games bit. I am going to try to make it too and we can talk...

Soeb, we don't mind missing the Rs.1,600/- dinner, but we certainly want our contribution to reach the "Children bravely battling cancer" one way or other. If we can collect only a small money, it doesn't matter for us, but it is the depth of our fellow-feeling that counts. We don't want to just turn our heads off, when a fellow enthusiast like Harish is reaching us with a sincere appeal. Just one more way how we want to fuse ourselves into a cohesive body.
We know it, Soeb. Many Mumbaikars can afford 2 tickets for one seat. But what to do? After lot, a good number of wealthy Mumbaikars of today had their roots in Chennai or somewhere in South. Right? Mumbai is the wealthy people's cauldron in India. And we are pround that Chennai had sent a good lot of them to Mumbai.
We are also catching up fast, courtesy the beehive of IT companies and giants like Ford, Hyundai and not to forget Nokia, who have just decided to set up a huge factory here. So, we will have a good lot of Chennaiites very soon, buying 2 tickets for 1 seat. Even 3 tickets for 1 seat. Why not? We will give more occasions for you to laugh out aloud.
